Two dead weights Brendan Rodgers needs to sell in January - opinion
Once again, Leicester City have been the revelation of the season in the Premier League.
Of course, the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City are still the likeliest to finish in the top two, but the Foxes have managed to surprise yet again and even find themselves above the reigning champions going into Boxing Day.
But even Brendan Rodgers’ team has some players who aren’t fit for purpose and with that in mind, we’ve outlined two the Foxes should axe in the New Year when the transfer window reopens.

Eldin Jakupovic
It might seem like a rather harsh verdict on a player who rarely ever plays but Jakupovic quite clearly doesn’t have a future at the club.
Being 35-years-old and with his contract due to run out in the summer of 2020, there’s a possibility Rodgers simply waits for Jakupovic’s deal to run its course.
But if there is a chance the Swiss goalie can somehow be shipped off even earlier than that, it’s a chance Leicester should take. If nothing else, at least it would free up some wages for potential incomings.
Danny Ward is a solid enough deputy to Kasper Schmeichel and while goalkeeper is the riskiest department to be light in numbers for, perhaps this should be seen as an opportunity to give a youngster the chance to hold down third choice for the rest of the campaign.

Daniel Amartey
Amartey is unlucky to be in a team that simply has better options than him.
He was always unlikely to usurp Wilfred Ndidi but he now has competition from Dennis Praet and Hamza Choudhury as well, and the 24-year-old midfielder has resultantly not registered a single appearance this season.
A similar fate had befallen him in 2018/19 when he could only muster 730 minutes overall, so it feels like the time is right for Leicester and the player to part company.
