"Utter rubbish", "Not got a clue" - Many Everton fans react to talkSPORT pundit's Ancelotti view
Everton fans have been quick to react on Twitter after talkSPORT pundit Darren Lewis said he believes the club has made the wrong choice as they close in on Carlo Ancelotti.
“For me, the right man for the job would’ve been Duncan Ferguson.”💪
“Ancelotti is used to working with top players & getting them to the top level… Everton aren’t there yet.”

The Telegraph report that the Italian is set to be announced as the new Toffees manager this week, taking the reins from caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson.
The Scot has led the Merseyside outfit to four points from a possible six in the Premier League against Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as drawing 2-2 with Leicester City in the Carabao Cup before exiting the competition on penalties.

Those performances have seen much more commitment from the players than perhaps was visible towards the end of Marco Silva’s reign, and Lewis has told talkSPORT that with the position the club is in – very much in a relegation battle seeing as they lie just three points above the bottom three – Ancelotti isn’t the right man for them given he has managed the likes of PSG, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in recent years.

Many Everton supporters have taken to the social media platform to disagree with The Mirror journalist, with one saying he is talking “utter rubbish”, and another saying he hasn’t “got a clue”.
This is completely understandable from the viewpoint of the Goodison faithful who may feel like they aren’t allowed to be ambitious, but you can also see where Lewis is coming from given the positive displays and feel-good factor under Ferguson as they have gone back to basics.

Others chose to look at his comments in more detail, with one suggesting that AC Milan were actually not in a too dissimilar position to Everton when Ancelotti took charge there, while PSG weren’t in a great situation either having not won a Ligue 1 title since 1994 when he led them to one in 2013.
Another believes they have hired four managers not good enough in Roberto Martinez, Ronald Koeman, Sam Allardyce and Silva since David Moyes left in 2013, so why shouldn’t they aim high and bring him in – it’s hard to argue with that sentiment.
Milan hadn’t won the league for 3 years and were struggling domestically and in Europe. PSG were a shambles and hadn’t won the French league for 19 years. He completely changed the fortunes of those 2 clubs.

We’ve hired 4 very average managers since David Moyes. And it hasn’t worked. One of the best managers around is available and seems willing to take the challenge. Why wouldn’t we take the risk? Why should we settle. Where has it got us?

Others believes that Lewis is a Liverpool fans and that is the reason for his particular opinion on the subject.

They clearly believe he is being biased and wants them to carry on with a novice rather than bringing in someone who has an impressive honours list of three Champions Leagues as well as top flight titles in England, France, Germany and Italy on his resume.
