"City can have him" - Many Liverpool fans react to £70m link with ace "not worth more than £30m"

After previously being criticised for having no end product, the former Barcelona man has already hit five goals and seven assists in all competitions, and that has led to a number of clubs being linked with him.

90min.com have recently reported that there are a trio of clubs who are eyeing the 23-year-old. Manchester City and Barcelona have been named, as well as Premier League leaders and European Champions Liverpool. The exclusive also adds that the Molineux outfit will only accept bids of at least £70m.

This speculation has got the fans talking, as you would expect, and it seems they are rather flabbergasted by the huge potential fee mentioned.

It is a huge sum for a player who has really only started shining this term. Last season, he had just one goal and three assists, while he managed just three of the latter in his previous 37 top-tier games before that. When you consider the Reds paid £34m for Mohamed Salah and £30m for Sadio Mane, it would represent a significant financial commitment that would be hard to justify.

His direct style does not seem too far off Salah’s way of playing, so there is no reason why he wouldn’t slot into the system on the right wing.

With the Citizens also eyeing the former Spain U21 international, some Reds supporters would not be worried to see him move to the Etihad instead.

With him having scored three times against Pep Guardiola’s men already this term, he has proven his worth against the league champions. Given his ability to score in the biggest moments, him signing for a direct rival instead of Liverpool could come back to haunt the north-west side in the future.

The large majority of the transfer window still remains, so it will be interesting to see whether this link becomes something more concrete.
