"Do it we're desperate", "Nonsense": Lots of Spurs fans disagree over potential midfielder swoop
Tottenham Hotspur fans have urged the club to bring Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes into the club in the January transfer window.
The Daily Telegraph has reported that manager Jose Mourinho could push for a deal to be completed for the attacking midfielder in the January transfer window following the injury sustained by Moussa Sissoko.
The France international is set to be out until April after sustaining ligament damage in the Premier League clash with Southampton.
He was subsequently ruled out of the FA Cup draw with Middlesbrough and a deal for Fernandes could be a potential way of plastering over the wound.
The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?
Spurs were interested in a deal for the Portugal international in the summer and made a bid, though Sporting claimed, via The London Evening Standard, that it included too many “unrealistic” add-ons, including a potential bonus for winning the Premier League.
And supporters are hopeful that he can be brought in at the second attempt this month.

However, other supporters have expressed their doubts over the viability of a deal.
Fernandes signed a new contract at Sporting recently and has a reported buyout clause of €100m (£84.7m).

However, the 25-year-old has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 13 goals and providing 13 assists in 24 games in all competitions in 2019/20.
Any deal for him would surely be expensive; it remains to be seen if chairman Daniel Levy will put his hand in his pocket.
Meanwhile, Spurs are tracking a striker in brilliant form.
