"Never rated him", "Let him go" - Many Arsenal fans discuss potential exit of important figure
Whilst he may not be in the headlines as much, Gary O’Driscoll’s face is certainly a recognisable one for those who are avid watchers of Arsenal matches. The club’s head of medical services is often seen taking his place in the dugout and coming onto the pitch to assist with injuries, whilst he’s also the man welcoming new signings for their medicals on those YouTube videos.

O’Driscoll has been with the club since 2009, but according to The Daily Mail, his stay in north London may about to get tested. The report claims Premier League rivals Liverpool are interested in luring him to Anfield in order to replace their outgoing head of medical services, Andrew Massey, who will be taking up a similar role with FIFA.

After hearing about the news, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the potential departure of one of their backroom staff’s key figures, with a couple of supporters questioning just how good he really is.
Good, never rated him.

Is he really that good? Our players seem to get injured when they get sneezed on

A few supporters of the north London side even insisted that they would be happy to see him go, and pointed to their poor injury record.

Highly respected? We’re suffering from big injuries for years. There isnt any other big club whit so many injuries over the past 10 years. So please let him go.

Let him go.. that guy ain’t helping anything. We have players injured after every two games..

A couple of optimistic Gunners fans rather jokingly wondered whether Liverpool would be prepared to give Virgil van Dijk in return for O’Driscoll.
Van Dijk or he stays @LFC

Swap for VVD?

Whilst Arsenal fans on the whole appear to be rather dismissive about potentially seeing O’Driscoll leave judging by their tweets, it would still be a major blow for the club if a key member of their backroom staff were to leave so early into Arteta’s reign as head coach. The north Londoners could do with some stability to just provide the Spaniard with a bit of comfort in his surroundings, and having this upheaval will just make things that much more difficult for him.
Meanwhile, Arsenal fans have hailed this ace who Mikel Arteta could work wonders for.
