"Gerrard just doesn't learn", "Laughable" - Many Rangers fans blast "worst player on the park"
Rangers were humbled by Bayer Leverkusen at Ibrox on Thursday night as Steven Gerrard suffered his first home defeat in Europe since he took over at the club.
The 3-1 result leaves the Gers on the brink in the Europa League, though uncertainty over when the competition will resume suggests the second leg could be some time away.
The hosts were outclassed at times and the gulf in class was laid bare in the contrasting performances of Kai Havertz and Joe Aribo – Havertz completed two key passes and three dribbles compared to zero and one respectively for Aribo, per Whoscored.

The 23-year-old’s display naturally provoked criticism from plenty of supporters, with one fan suggesting he was the worst player on the pitch.
Joe Aribo has been genuinely awful tonight.

Morelos is not the problem. No support. Kent aribo ineffective

Kamberi is a bang average footballer who just works hard for me but his energy improved us because Aribo was so far off it .

Must agree mate Aribo was brutal, worst player on the park by the length of paisley road west!!!

Definitely. They always had a spare man in the middle of the park. We look lost in their. Aribo out on the right is laughable and I fear the worst with Davis.

And the display prompted plenty of discussion regarding Gerrard’s team selection.
One fan claimed that he isn’t good enough to start and implied that Aribo is more effective from the substitutes bench.
No one will ever be able to convince me that Aribo should start games, 2nd half sub yes, but never a starter

And these two fans, meanwhile, pointed fingers at Gerrard’s decision to play the former Charlton ace down the right hand side.
One fan alluded to earlier performances in which Aribo has struggled on the right and suggested the manager hasn’t learned from his previous mistakes.
Indeed, with Ianis Hagi routed to the substitutes bench until the 68th minute, Rangers were lacking a creative spark for much of the game.
#aribo on the right hand side for #rangers again tonight#gerrard just doesn’t learn does he
Everytime he plays in that position he is utterly useless#gerrardout clueless clown

Gerrard has this all wrong again . Far too passive and Aribo miles off the pace. Kent much the same. They look a good team tho.
