Man Utd, Tottenham warned top strike target will cost in excess of £100m
Manchester United and Tottenham have been warned that Wolves striker Raul Jimenez could cost them in the excess of £100million.
The Mexico forward’s form has been one of the many highlights of a terrific campaign for Wolves, who are sixth in the table and in the last 16 of the Europa League.
The 29-year-old has scored 22 goals in his first season as a permanent Wolves player, having had his loan spell from Benfica upgraded to a £32.6m switch last year.
Links to the likes of United, Spurs and even Real Madrid have come as no surprise and Alex Bruce has boldly claimed that Jimenez could become the most expensive Premier League player ever.
The former Birmingham and Hull centre-back told Football Insider: “Phwoar. God only knows, it’s name your price, really.
“When you’ve got someone that’s a goal scorer, we know they’re the most valuable players on the pitch, somebody who can put the ball in the back of the net. That’s up to Wolves, what they would want for him.
“Most players have their price and if you’re talking about £200million for Harry Kane to go to Man United, what would Jimenez be worth – £120million, £130million, something like that?”
Jimenez signed a four-year with Wolves last summer and has admitted that he is loving life at Molineux.
“I have a contract until 2023,” he explained in a recent interview. “It’s not that we have to qualify for the Champions League in order to stay. I’m good [here], happy with Wolves, doing important things – me as well as the whole team.
“We’ve been trying our best since the start of last season. We’ve qualified for the Europa League, now we’re fighting for a Champions League spot.
“And it’s the big motivation to keep growing as a player and getting into the Champions League is always a plus that satisfies you and keeps you thinking about big things.”
Jimenez described as ‘perfect fit’ for Tottenham if Harry Kane leaves
Kevin Phillips has tipped Tottenham to sign Wolves striker Raul Jimenez if or when Harry Kane leaves the club.
The former Sunderland and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that the 28-year-old would fit in well with the current personnel in north London and would match the profile of forward wanted by Jose Mourinho.
Speculation has been rife over the future of England skipper Kane, after the 26-year-old admitted he would only remain at Spurs if the club were seen to be making progress. Read more…
