"A disgrace", "Does he want out?" - Loads of Sunderland fans unhappy with key man's "poor move"
Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has withdrawn from a talk-in meeting with fans, leaving many supporters outraged.
Instead, the evening will be chaired by executive director Charlie Methven and club legend Kevin Ball, who will oversee discussion relating to the recent investment by the American consortium.

When Donald first took over he was quite vocal, communicating online with supporters and outlining the reasons behind decision-making, but subsequent criticism and abuse has forced him away, and now it is possible it has put him off face-to-face discourse too.
For some amongst the Sunderland faithful his action is a reminder of the previous chairman, Ellis Short, who also hid away when things weren’t going well.
It is a bad sign for fans, therefore, as his tenure ended in disaster in the form of back-to-back relegations.
The current owner may be unhappy with how the fans are treating him but he is doing himself no favours by backing out of the evening, as it has led to further criticism, as evidenced by the reactions below.
So basically Stewart Donald can't face the fans, incase he gets abit of stick… it's like having Ellis Short in charge all over again…. don't buy a club if you can't take criticism

Does SD not wanting to appear in public anymore have any affect on his plans with Sunderland? As in does he want out?

I agree with SD to not be on Twitter anymore but to hide from events like this a disgrace !!

Not really sure of the benefit of having an owner who is disengaged with the club.. we’ve been there before . I neither agree or condone any kind of personal abuse, however if this is how it’s going to be is a parting of the ways in the best interests of everyone ?

SD Hiding as he ruins our club, proper owner that.

Single handedly making our club the worst it’s ever been and he’s spat his dummy out.

Absolute joke, if this is his attitude maybe it’s time to move on. Was looking forward to it but think I’ll get my money back instead.

Surely when you decide to purchase a football club you put yourself in a position to receive a bit of stick when things arent going as planned. Pulling out of closed events for this for me is a poor move by SD. He obviously wants to avoid certain questions that will be asked…
