"Gold dust", "Played well" - Some Spurs fans pleased with "very solid" man's display
Tottenham Hotspur fans have hailed Eric Dier after his contribution to his side’s 3-2 win over West Ham United on Saturday.
Goals from Son Heung-Min, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane proved decisive against Manuel Pellegrini’s men, with Spurs recording their first away win in the league since January.
The former Sporting Lisbon midfielder was picked to start by Jose Mourinho in his first game as manager and patrolled the midfield alongside Harry Winks.
Per WhoScored, he won nine aerial duels throughout the game, had a pass success rate of 80% and also made one tackle, three clearances and one interception.
Dier had made just three appearances in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino prior to his sacking but he may well become a fixture under Mourinho in the coming months, should he keep turning in performances of such quality.
And supporters were delighted with his display in east London.
Take a look at the best of the reaction on Twitter below!
– A fit Dier is gold dust (I thought he had a good game) he's a José player for sure 👍
– Winks did what Winks does, without the pressure of protecting the back 4 👍, I hope he goes on to play the proper number 8 role
– Lucas is fixed, he can now play with Kane and Son 👍#COYS— Donny Goodwood (@DIY_Army) November 23, 2019
Real Dele turned up today, absolute masterclass in that no 10 role. Kane was a man possessed, and Son and Moura flying on the counter attacks. Very solid in the middle of the park from Dier & Winks. Glad Jose learned Spurs don’t see out things out easily when 3-0 up. #COYS

Personally think Dier was solid. Broke up play and recycled the ball well

Dier was top 3 on the pitch for distance covered and passes completed too. Couple of stray passes as you’d expect after so long out, but played well.
The team was far more balanced.

Dier gave us that stability in the 1st 70 minutes that we have lacked. He will play most weeks in Mourinhos teams
